What a wedding photographer must get right for a Muslim wedding

Sending an all-male crew and improvising on the day. It cannot be fixed at the venue, and it can mean the women’s side of the entire wedding goes unphotographed.

The requirements

Specific and checkable. Take this list to any wedding photographer in your city.

  • Offer a female photographer for the women’s section — this is a hard requirement for many families and a nice-to-have for none of them
  • Ask, in advance and specifically, which guests should not be photographed
  • Understand that the nikah itself is often brief, quiet, and not a photo opportunity

Ask them this

Word for word. The answers tell you more than the portfolio does.

  • “Do you have a woman on your team who can cover the ladies’ side for the whole event?”
  • “How do you handle guests who do not want to be photographed at all?”

Who has confirmed they do this

Nobody yet — we are still calling. We speak to around 150 Gujarat wedding vendors a week, and we are now asking each one whether they meet this brief. Only vendors who tell us yes, directly, will appear here.

We could have filled this section by guessing which businesses are Muslim from their names. That would have been quicker and it would have been made up. The list below stays empty until it is real.

Are you a wedding photographer who meets this brief? Tell us and we will list you. No fee, now or ever.
