Why there is no “best Jain caterers” list here

Because we would have to make it up. Our directory holds 12,738 Gujarat wedding vendors scraped from public Google listings, and not one of those records contains a community field. Across the whole database, 18 businesses mention “Jain” anywhere in their name, five mention halal, and zero mention Marwari.

Publishing a ranked list of “Jain caterers” would mean guessing the community of forty real companies from their business names and printing that guess. It would be unverifiable, and it would be a statement about other people’s identity that we have no standing to make.

So the pages carry the requirement instead — no root vegetables, service before sunset, a separate chauvihar sitting — which is checkable, useful, and works with any vendor in the city. And where a business has told us directly that it meets a brief, we name it.

Why separate pages for each community?

Because a Jain wedding is not a Hindu wedding with different colours, and a page that treats it as one is spotted in two seconds by the only people it was written for. Each community has its own functions, its own sequence of days and its own way of addressing a guest — so each gets its own page rather than a shared one with a label swapped.

Who checked these pages?

Not enough people yet, and we would rather say so. The vocabulary on these pages is drawn from general knowledge and has not been reviewed by someone from every community it describes. If something on your community’s page is wrong, telling us is genuinely useful — it is a one-line fix in one file.

Does the service itself change per community?

The mechanics do not — WhatsApp, an official number, a human on the first call and a human verifying every count. What changes is the language, the function names and the order of the days, which is most of what makes guest communication feel like it came from your family rather than from a vendor.
