Jai Jinendra · 2026 wedding season
Planning a Jain wedding
A Jain wedding is not a Hindu wedding with a different menu. The dietary rule reorders the entire kitchen, the timing of the meal is fixed by sunset rather than by the schedule, and several of the ceremonies have no equivalent elsewhere. Most vendors in Gujarat have worked a Jain wedding; far fewer have worked one without being corrected.

The functions, in order
If a vendor cannot name these without being told, they have not worked this wedding before. That is not a disqualification — it is a thing to know before you sign.
- 1 Mehendi
- 2 Pithi
- 3 Sangeet
- 4 Vinayakyantra Pujan
- 5 Lagna
- 6 Reception
Guests are greeted with જય જિનેન્દ્ર (Jai Jinendra) , and addressed with bhai / ben. The celebration itself is a lagna.
What each vendor has to get right
- Wedding caterers No onion and no garlic in any dish, including the base masalas and the chaat counters 5 requirements · 4 questions to ask →
- Wedding photographers Ask before photographing inside a derasar — many do not permit it at all, and permission comes from the temple, not the family 3 requirements · 2 questions to ask →
- Wedding planners and event managers Build the timeline backwards from sunset, not forwards from the muhurat 3 requirements · 2 questions to ask →
- Wedding venues and party plots Kitchen willing to run a fully separate Jain line, in writing, not verbally 3 requirements · 2 questions to ask →
- Wedding decorators and tent houses Ashtamangal and lotus motifs rather than the generic marigold-and-mandap kit 3 requirements · 2 questions to ask →
- Wedding invitation and card makers Opens with Jai Jinendra, not with a Hindu invocation 3 requirements · 2 questions to ask →
And then the guest list
The catering answer is per guest, not per family — some relatives keep chauvihar, some do not, and the difference is two separate counts for the same table. That question has to be asked of every household, and it is the one nobody remembers to ask until the caterer does.
That is the part AI Shaadi does. Launching for the 2026 wedding season — no wedding has run for a paying customer yet, and we would rather say so here than let you find out later.
We may have some of this wrong
Practice varies by region, by sect and by family, and these briefs were written from general knowledge rather than from inside the community. If something here is wrong for how your family does it, tell us and we will fix the page — that correction is worth more to us than the page as it stands.
