What a wedding photographer must get right for a Jain wedding
Directing the couple to repeat a ritual moment for a better frame. In a sequence with a fixed muhurat that is not a small ask, and in a derasar it may not be permitted at all.
The requirements
Specific and checkable. Take this list to any wedding photographer in your city.
- Ask before photographing inside a derasar — many do not permit it at all, and permission comes from the temple, not the family
- No flash during the pujan sequences unless it has been cleared
- Know the Vinayakyantra Pujan and where to stand for it; it is short and it will not be repeated for the camera
Ask them this
Word for word. The answers tell you more than the portfolio does.
- “Have you shot inside a derasar before, and did you get permission yourself or did the family?”
- “How do you light a ceremony where flash is not allowed?”
Who has confirmed they do this
