What a wedding venue must get right for a Hindu wedding
A venue that says yes to the fire verbally and produces a no-open-flame policy a week before the wedding.
The requirements
Specific and checkable. Take this list to any wedding venue in your city.
- Permits an open flame for the havan — confirm in writing, many hotels do not
- Baraat entry that works: a route in, somewhere for the procession to gather, and space for a horse if there is one
- Mandap space with the correct orientation if the family observes it
Ask them this
Word for word. The answers tell you more than the portfolio does.
- “Will you allow a live havan fire indoors, and is that in the contract?”
- “Where does the baraat form up, and can it enter without blocking the road?”
Who has confirmed they do this
