The paper wall guests punch their face through
One sheet of paper, one flash, and a poster of forty faces bursting out of it.
What it actually is
A sheet of white paper is stretched taut in a frame. A guest punches their head through it and is photographed head-on at the moment it tears, lit hard by a flash so the torn edges catch. The individual photograph is not the point — the whole set is cut out and composited into one poster of everybody\'s face coming through the paper, which is what actually gets shared. It costs almost nothing in materials and everything in whether someone is willing to assemble it afterwards.
We have not published a price here because we could not ground one honestly. Ask three vendors — an invented number would be worse than none.
When it works
- Your photographer is already carrying an off-camera flash and is willing to run it
- A corridor or holding area between two functions, where guests are waiting anyway
- A guest list young enough to punch a wall in good clothes
- Somebody has committed to compositing the poster afterwards — in writing
The part nobody else prints
How this goes wrong
This is not a booth you can rent and forget; it is a set-up that depends on a photographer and an editor. Every punch destroys the sheet, so a helper has to re-tape a fresh one between guests or the queue collapses inside ten minutes — budget the person, not just the paper. And if nobody assembles the final poster, you are left with forty disconnected photographs of relatives looking startled, which is not the thing anyone was promised. Agree who is compositing it, and by when, before the day.
Every idea here is easier than telling three hundred people about it.
